He is also a member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He represents the Gurgaon constituency in Haryana and is a member of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).

Rao Inderjit was an MLA in the Haryana assembly for 4 terms, starting in 1977. From 1982 to 1987 he was a Minister of State in Food and civil supplies .
